In 1872, after learning about the great geysers of Yellowstone, Congress voted to create the world's first national park, a wilderness preserved just for the people of this country. It was such a good idea, other parks soon followed - Sequoia, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and then the Grand Canyon and many more. Today, there are over 50 national parks, and new ones are being established every few years. Each park is created with the same idea - to preserve forever the natural wonders of this magnificent and majestic country.
