Long Beard: Warren Wasson: Nevada Pioneer, Indian Agent, U.S. Marshall, Inventor & Enigma by Robert W. Ellison
“Warren Wasson was a Pennsylvania baby born on the frontier along the Susquehanna River in 1833. When he was still very young, his family followed the westward migration to the new frontier, building a long cabin in Illinois. With the discovery of the gold in California, Warren and his father became forty-niners. Almost a decade later, Warren Wasson became one of the first pioneers on the East Slope of the Sierra and arrived just before the discovery of the Comstock.
This frontiersman was soon called upon to be a scout, and Indian Agent, a Deputy U.S. Marshall, then U.S. Marshall, a U.S. Tax Assessor, a delegate to two constitutional conventions and a military advisor to three of Nevada’s Governors.
In his spare time he was a husband and father, farmer, a miner and an inventor. In the end, with his disappearance, he became an enigma.
